Baby Back Pork Ribs

Ribs Smoked in the Home Oven

  • Author: Tina Turbin

Description

I never enjoyed pork as much as I do now. Thanks to 5280 pork, I am a true pork lover. I used their pork to make these delicious ribs in these amazing smoker bags. Kids sure do enjoy the process of preparing the meal, so make sure you include your little ones!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 pounds pork spare ribs (I use 5280)
  • 1 smoker bag
  • BBQ sauce of choice, or better yet, make a homemade one!
  • Ghee, coconut oil or grass-fed butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 275F degrees.
  2. Season ribs with ghee (or coconut oil or grass-fed butter), salt, pepper and leave as is (or add a light brush of sauce too).
  3. Stuff in bag and seal tightly.
  4. Place on lowest rack.
  5. The side marked “this side down” rests on the rack.
  6. Cook for 5 hours.
  7. Remove.
  8. Allow the bag to rest for about 10 minutes after cooking because the bag and the steam within are very hot.
  9. To remove the meat, use scissors or a knife to cut three-fourths of the way around the top near the sides; then peel back the aluminum.
  10. Serve with more BBQ sauce and you can finish with a quick grill on each side for a few minutes if you like.
  11. Enjoy!

Notes

You can cook these ribs at a higher temperature if you wish, and many say you can cook them faster if you do it that way, but I am leery of undercooked pork and I prefer my ribs to be fall-off-the bone tender, so the above recipe was fine for me.
