Description
This Christmas lemonade is mellow and sweet, nicely contrasted with a pleasant heat. It is beneficial on an empty stomach, especially just before meals when it works its digestive magic. Sugar-free, healthy and of course gluten-free.
Ingredients
- 3 cups water
- 3 (or more) lemons
- A pinch of cayenne flakes (or 3 dashes ground)
- 1 inch finger of ginger, peeled and sliced
- Raw honey to taste
- 1 Nut Bag
Instructions
- Juice the lemons and grate the bright yellow peels with a fine grater or zester. (They have the most lemony flavor, the white spongey interior of the skin is bitter.)
- Combine ingredients and water in a pot and heat mixture until it steams (it doesn’t need to boil).
- Strain through nut milk bag and add honey to taste!
- This mixture can be “recharged” with more water at least two more times!
- Enjoy!
Notes
This recipe can be prepared raw, just cover the ingredients and let sit over night at room temperature or in the fridge before straining. For more daring drinks, try it iced as a sweet and hot mixer!
