The Amazing Benefits of Raw Coconut Oil Part 3

The Amazing Benefits of Raw Coconut Oil Part 3

In this final part of my 3 part interview with this amazing coconut oil company, I wanted to know more about the many benefits and uses for raw coconut oil. After learning about why raw coconut oil is better for you than heated coconut oil, I really enjoyed delving into how we can use this amazing oil to improve our lives and our health.

Some of the things we got to discuss are why it is a better choice as a cooking oil, what makes it beneficial in losing weight and what effects it can have on brain health. Being paleo, it is certainly one of my pantry staples. Now I am even more happy that it is, and look forward to finding new ways to incorporate it into my diet.

Do check out the other interviews to learn more about raw coconut oil. Now let’s jump right into our talk with Skinny & Company!

1. As a paleo and celiac advocate, some of the things I love hearing about are the successes that people are having in improving their health and well-being. Can you tell me what the main benefits are with using raw coconut oil?

With Skinny, we label it as a supplement because the best benefits come from supplemental use. There’s many ways to implement Skinny into your diet, and every use we recommend keeps it raw. By keeping Skinny raw you get the most out of the product.

Skinny has shown to increase brain clarity, boost metabolism leading to weight loss, balance healthy blood sugar levels, provide cardiovascular health and strengthen the immune system.

These are the major health benefits we’ve seen, and we have also received so many testimonials from our faithful users.

2. Why is coconut oil the better choice versus other cooking oils?

Coconut oil has one of the highest smoking points among common cooking oils. Smoking point is defined as “the temperature at which, under defined conditions, enough volatile compounds emerge from the oil that a bluish smoke becomes clearly visible.” In layman’s terms, it’s the temperature at which certain oils can become toxic.

When cooking with oils you have to be conscientious of the temperature you’re using. It can be damaging to your health if not.

One of the major uses of coconut oil is cooking, but we don’t advocate that for Skinny. We never heat it during processing so we don’t recommend our users do either. To receive the greatest amount of benefits listed in question #1 raw is key.

3. We have heard about something in coconut oil called MCFA. Can you explain what this is?

MCFA is medium chain fatty acid, and these make up about 70% of Skinny. MCFAs have received considerable attention recently due to their unique benefits. Some have even began to call it the “Fat-Burning Fat” for its metabolism boosting effect.

Unlike Long Chain Fatty Acids (LCFA), which takes a substantial amount of time to be digested by the body, MCFAs are immediately transported to the liver. Here MCFAs converted to a fuel call ketones, a readily available source of energy for bodily functions.

MCFAs occur between 6 to 12 carbons long, and include capric, caprylic, myristic and lauric acids; all contained in Skinny. Lauric acid is a unique MCFA, and makes up 50.65% of the MCFA content in Skinny.

Lauric Acid is unique because it is only as prevalent in one other source, mother’s milk. This MCFA is credited with helping form the immune system of newborns, and strengthens immune function in adults.

While MCFAs occur naturally at lower levels in milk fat (butter, milk, yogurt, and cheese), the highest quantities are found in coconut oil.

I Love Skinny

4. Many of us have heard that coconut oil good to take when trying to slim down. Beyond simply substituting more fatty oils, why is coconut oil a good choice for people trying to lose weight?

There are a few ways. As mentioned above, the high levels of MCFAs in Skinny cause a metabolism boosting effect. In most cases this leads to weight loss and studies have shown the fat lost focuses on the abdominal area. These are some of the most dangerous fats to cardiovascular issues.

Another way is the increase in natural energy. Through the quick metabolizing, Skinny is able to supply lost lasting energy and brain clarity. This helps to get more out of each day and may even make that trip to the gym a little easier.

5. Alzheimer’s and dementia are major health concerns to the elderly and the family members that love and care for them. How might consuming more raw coconut oil help toward brain health?

There are preliminary studies on the effects of coconut oil on degenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s and dementia, but unfortunately we are not at liberty to talk about them with in relation to Skinny.

Skinny’s does have a significant effect on brain activity, though. Ketones serve as an alternative energy source to maintain normal brain cell metabolism. In fact, ketones may be an even more efficient fuel than glucose, providing more energy per unit oxygen used. A ketogenic diet also increases the number of mitochondria, so called “energy factories” in brain cells.

6. If someone is unhealthy, what are some things adding more coconut oil to the diet might do for this person?

As I’ve stated before, Skinny is a supplement and not a drug. Skinny doesn’t take an unhealthy person to a healthy state, but it is a step in the right direction.

Depending on the person, Skinny can have affects in multiple ways. Whether that is brain clarity, energy, weight loss, immune strength or many other benefits, Skinny can help.

7. Would children benefit from more coconut oil in their diet?

Skinny would have the same affect on children as it would adults, but it’s most significant effect could be seen in the classroom. Through the benefits of brain clarity, coconut oil has shown to help with attention span.

Also, incorporating raw coconut oil into children’s diets will be a healthier substitute from olive, canola, vegetable and other common oils.

8. What about a high performance athlete? What are some of the things coconut oil might provide that could help someone with that type of athletic lifestyle?

I think the best way to answer this is to let a high performance athlete speak for himself. This is Sergio Brown, a DB for the Indianapolis Colts:

“Skinny Coconut Oil has become my new ‘can’t go without it’ product! I use it every day and it has been extremely helpful for my profession. The grind of a NFL season is very tough on the body, and Skinny has been great for my recovery and rejuvenation. It also provides me with a natural, long lasting boost of energy.”

9. I saw from the testimonials on your website that many people are using your oil for non-cooking purposes, such as moisturizing and oil pulling. What are some of the benefits using your raw coconut oil in these ways?

This is a great question because these are two of the best ways we recommend using Skinny. Skinny is an excellent hydrating lotion. It lessens the appearances of wrinkles leading to a younger look, soothes itchiness, dryness and small cuts or scratches and energizes skin.

Also, through a practice called oil pulling, Skinny has been shown to whiten teeth, freshen breath, aid with gum inflammation and strengthen the immune system.

This is done by using Skinny similar to a mouthwash. Every morning, before you eat or drink anything, swish 1 tbsp. of the oil in your mouth for 5 to 20 minutes. After you’re done pulling, spit the oil into the trashcan to avoid clogging the drains.

It’s known as pulling because it is supposed to “pull” toxins from your gums, mouth and throat.

10. I love your Mission & Values page on your website where you talk about change. The last part of your Mission & Values page says: “Change is engaging” and finishes with “We are the catalyst for change, but change is a result of shared belief through engaging a community.” How are you engaging that community?

We are engaging this community through education, cross-promoting and continuing to spread the Skinny Mission of healthy people change the world.

We’ve realized in our first year that education is key. Not only for the purpose of Skinny, but purchasing health food items as a whole. Terms like “organic” and “raw” don’t always mean what they’re supposed to, and it takes education on these matters to be truly confident behind your purchasing decisions.

Also, finding business and people that relate to our mission and promote the same vales and initiatives is key to our growth. We can always help each other, even if that’s just support via social media or doing events together. We all don’t have to go at it alone.

11. What are you hoping to achieve from here?

Skinny’s hope is to continue expanding our mission and business. Everything we do has a focus on our customers and giving back. We have a handful of products coming down the pipeline and can’t wait to introduce them to the market.

We can only expand the Skinny & Co. mission by being the best we can be. Through our practices, product development and the growth of our business, we can achieve the things we set out to.

The support from businesses like PaleOmazing and many other supporters who see value in our mission and belief in our product is the first step. Now, we have to expand upon that any continue to cultivate a community of health-conscious individuals striving for the same goal. That’s to have a positive affect on our world.

12. How can people become involved and share this mission moving forward?

There are many ways people can become involved. Whether that be trying our products, supporting us through social media or just as simple as a testimonial.

Everything helps and we are extremely grateful for everyone’s support. Our mission is ongoing, and for us it starts with getting our products into people’s hands. As I said before, this is not for sales sake, but we truly believe healthy people change the world. We’ve seen first hand the health benefits our coconut oil can have, and we want everyone to experience the same.
