Paleo Hazelnut Gelato

Paleo Hazelnut Gelato

Happy National Ice Cream Day! I love ice cream, especially during these hot summer months, so when I found out that July 20th was ice cream day, I of course had to share something cold, sweet, delicious and paleo for this occasion, as is my style! With that being said, I welcome you to paleo hazelnut gelato!

A few fun facts: National Ice Cream Day entered the United States calendar in 1984 when President Reagan proclaimed it to be every 3rd Sunday in July. It is thought that ice cream was brought to the U.S. by Quakers as they settled the country and the cold, sweet treat was sold in shops in American cities as early as colonial times. I’m so grateful they did!

Now as for this delicious hazelnut gelato? I’m so happy to introduce all of you to this clean and healthy recipe from a friend of mine. Sometimes I come across a new friend that has something wonderful to share with the world. In this case Eliane Dabbah has taken a diagnosis of Crohn’s disease and turned it into something beautiful.

Taking the diagnosis in her own hands she says she has cured her Crohn’s disease with the Specific Carbohydrate Diet and has since started to share many recipes she and her mom have developed. Her website is AlmondMamaEats.wordpress.com.

The recipe below is gluten-free, dairy-free and definitely paleo. For those limiting their carbs and sugars feel free to replace the honey with your own sweetener, such as Erythritol. I use this as a substitute often in my Sugar Free Meringue and my Paleo Chocolate Decadent Cake.

Enjoy this incredibly tasty and absolutely easy recipe on Eliane’s site: AlmondMamaEats.
